Cute little French spot in Midtown East. The restaurant has different seating areas a small bar, cozy tables, and comfortable booth seating inside. It has a really charming and intimate atmosphere.
We stopped here somewhat unexpectedly, but it turned out to be a nice little find. Someone’s son had the steak 😂 and I tried French onion soup for the first time. I honestly had no idea how I was supposed to eat it, so apparently I needed a little lesson.
Nice place for a relaxed lunch, a date, or just hanging out and enjoying good food. Sometimes the unplanned places make the cutest memories
Absolutely loved this French restaurant! The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and elegant — perfect for a relaxed dinner or special occasion. The dish presentation was extraordinary; every plate looked like a work of art and showed real attention to detail. The staff was genuinely friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The bronzino was perfectly cooked, fresh, and full of flavor, and the escargot was easily some of the best in the area. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish — highly recommend!
Best meal to finish out our NYC trip. Friendly and excellent service. Dress is corporate / casual. The ambience was a true Parisian style place. We started with the French onion soup. It was mild. The bread mini baguettes at the table was perfect with fresh butter. Just needed some salt. We got a carafe of the merlot and it was the perfect amount for 2 to split (we aren’t big drinkers). Sparkling water and everyone loved their meals. The Cornish hen, chicken with gratin and the angus steak was great (steak and frites -the French classic). Spring for the chxocate soufflé at the end! I love creme brûlée but the crème caramel was a nice change (more flan like but a delicious butter/syrup with a hint of orange). Be sure to get coffee too. We travelled with teenagers and the loved it all.
I will be honest: I avoided this place for years after a bad encounter with some pests. But on a freezing day when I couldn't bear to travel another block, I mustered the courage and went back in. In a bizarre stroke of irony, the waiter sat me at the exact same table where I met an insecta friend years ago.
The interior hasn’t changed much retaining that familiar cozy and homey atmosphere. The entire meal was so great that it made me regret staying away for so long. The service was good and the female wait person was funny and friendly. The special dishes were excellent and the onion soup was delicious. I prefer couscous with seafood (not on the menu) but the royal option was a great choice.
It takes a lot for a restaurant to win back a skeptic like me, but they did it. Sitting at my "nemesis table" yet having a great experience was the closure I didn't know I needed. Whatever issues they had in the past seem to be firmly in the rearview mirror. I will definitely come back.
Wonderful food - vol au vent appetizer was delicious, as were the steak frites and shirt ribs. Terrific profiteroles for dessert rounded out a perfect meal
Go often for the price fixed luncheon. The escargot are the best, salmon or chicken very good and raspberry torte is delicious. The service is spot on every time!
I live next to this place and truly cannot say enough good things. The food is amazing, the steak frites and French onion soup are fire. The staff is wonderful. Every single one of them is so kind and helpful. Love the ambiance as well - feels very intimate for a date night or a nice family dinner. 10/10 such a hidden gem!!
My husband and I had date night the other night. When he asked where should we go, I said Deux Amis. He said that is where I want to go too, but does this make us boring as we always go there? I don’t think so. It is consistently delicious, reasonably priced and it feels like home away from home. One can never go wrong choosing to spend an evening at this establishment. We LOVE this place.
I’ve always loved this place. It’s old New York and excellent French fare. Always welcoming. I’m so glad it’s still here while so many others have closed. A true gem.
Came here on a late weekend night as this place has been on our list for a while. It was almost full around 9pm, we got seated quickly but took a while for the server to bring the menu. We did get a corner section so felt comfy and admired the French paintings all over the wall while I waited to get served. I could tell some guests were regulars, felt like a perfect restaurant to experience delicious French food at a relaxing cozy French place. The grilled calamari was excellent and they kindly divided the dish into two plates. We ordered the burger and the roasted duck which was absolutely amazing. The staff made sure the sides (mashed potato and string beans) for the duck were portioned well and it didn’t disappoint. Not just the portion but the price points and quality was great. We topped it off with the raspberry Neapolitan and it was to die for. Light and not too sweet we couldn’t stopped scooping the sauce on the plate!
